Pedal Bearing Replacement for O-Cedar Mop Bucket

Pedal Bearing Replacement for O-Cedar Mop Bucket

If your spin mop pedal has started clicking, sticking, or just won’t spin the way it used to, you don’t need to buy a whole new bucket. That grinding feeling under your foot usually means the internal gear or bearing has worn down—especially common in mop buckets that get heavy weekly use.

The fix is simpler than most people think. Flip your bucket over, remove the screws holding the pedal assembly, and swap out the old gear for a new one. Most of the work is just getting the screws off.

We recommend checking the gear size before ordering. Many buckets—including O-Cedar, Velida, and similar two-tank systems—use a standard 1” x 0.67” gear with a 0.35” inner diameter. But not all are identical. A quick measurement saves a return.

When you do find the right replacement, look for gears made with durable nylon and a stainless steel bearing. The original plastic parts in many buckets tend to wear down after a year or so. A sturdier replacement can actually outlast the factory part.

If you’re using a Tidy Monster replacement gear set, it’s designed to fit most standard spin mop buckets. (Note: This is not an original O-Cedar or Swiffer part. Tidy Monster makes replacement-compatible parts only.) The two-pack gives you a spare, which is helpful because if one gear wore out, the other side probably isn’t far behind.

Once installed, the pedal should feel smooth again. No more fighting a sticky mop bucket in the middle of cleaning. Just steady spinning, better water extraction, and less frustration on laundry day or after a spill.

One tip: take a photo of the pedal assembly before you take it apart. Screws can look similar, and having a reference helps when putting everything back together. Most people finish the whole replacement in under ten minutes.
