Pedal Bearing Replacement for OCedar Mop Bucket
Pedal Bearing Replacement for OCedar Mop Bucket
That squeaking sound. The pedal that suddenly spins with zero resistance. Or worse—you step down, and nothing happens.
If your OCedar EasyWring mop bucket has stopped wringing properly, you don’t need a whole new bucket. You need one small part: the pedal bearing gear.
We’ve been there. You’re mid-clean, the floor is half wet, and suddenly the spin mechanism gives out. Frustrating? Absolutely. But it’s also a quick fix.
What usually breaks
Inside the pedal assembly, a small gear and bearing do all the heavy lifting. Over time—especially with frequent use or hard water—that bearing can wear down or the gear teeth can strip. The bucket looks fine. The mop head is fine. But the pedal just clicks or free-spins.
The 10-minute repair
Flip your bucket over. You’ll see the pedal mechanism held in by a few screws. Remove them, pull out the old gear (take a photo first so you remember the orientation), and snap in a new one. That’s it.
Most replacements, including Tidy Monster’s 2-pack pedal bearing set, are designed to fit OCedar EasyWring systems as well as many other spin mop buckets. (Note: Tidy Monster is not the original OCedar brand—we make compatible replacement parts.)
Why replace instead of rebuy
A new spin mop bucket runs $30–50. A replacement gear? A few dollars. And you’re keeping plastic out of the landfill. One customer wrote us saying her bucket was five years old and worked like new again after swapping the bearing.
A quick tip while you’re under there
Before you screw the pedal back on, wipe out any hair or debris that collected around the housing. That buildup is often what caused the original bearing to fail in the first place.
Once the new gear is in, test the pedal a few times before flipping the bucket upright. You should feel smooth, even resistance. No grinding. No slipping.
That old bucket you were ready to toss? It’s got plenty of life left.
